Opening Day has come and gone, but not without incident. Rickie Weeks and Carlos Gomez led off the Brewers’ season with back-to-back jacks, while John Axford blew a three-run ninth inning lead. Curtis Granderson hit a home run on Opening Day for the third consecutive season, and Jason Heyward hit a home run in his first at-bat on Opening Day for the second straight year. While all of these players (save Gomez) are probably already rostered in your league, a few others contributed noteworthy production as well. Prospect Report: Mike Stanton’s 2010 Fantasy Value

In addition to the hype surrounding the MLB draft on Monday night and Stephen Strasburg’s major-league debut on Tuesday night, fantasy owners now have Mike Stanton’s long-awaited arrival to look forward to. Stanton’s absence from Double-A Jacksonville’s lineup on Sunday almost certainly confirms this, as the young outfielder is expected to join the Marlins on Tuesday in Philadelphia. Fantasy managers have known about Stanton for a while, but his expected call up begs the question: What will his fantasy impact be in 2010?

Fantasy Baseball Insiders’ 162-game journey is being put on hold for one night. While time didn’t allow the Insiders to score an entire game on Thursday, we did watch parts of multiple games. HITTERS Hitter of the day: Ryan Braun (4-for-5, BB, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI) Ryan Braun went 4-for-5 against the Cubs on Thursday, raising his batting average to .378. Milwaukee’s left fielder now has seven runs, three HRs and 11 RBI through nine games. Top-five fantasy player? I think so...

Game No. 5 – Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Rafael Furcal and Matt Kemp had two hits and two runs on Thursday against the Pirates. Kemp also added two RBI.
