30 Teams in 30 Days: 2011 Boston Red Sox Fantasy Baseball Preview

The Boston Red Sox were as busy as any team in baseball this offseason. Although they lost Victor Martinez and Adrian Beltre to free agency, the Red Sox made two shift-of-power acquisitions in Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez. Perhaps the most fantasy-rich team in baseball with six players in our top 100 (see below), the Red Sox feature an excellent lineup that includes both speed and power...

A Dinger Dilemma: Will David Ortiz’s Home Run Derby Success Lead To a Second-Half Slump?

Josh Hamilton in 2008 comes to mind, but it would be foolish to make assumptions based on that one particular instance. To answer this presumption, I tallied the first and second half home run totals of each Home Run Derby winner since 2000. The results may surprise you. The following table shows the pre and post All-Star Break at-bat per home run rate (AB/HR) of each player in the season they won the Home Run Derby. (Note: an AB/HR rate of 14.0 simply means the player hit a home run once every 14 at-bats.)...

Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight 5/5: Yankees’ Brett Gardner Increases Stolen Bases Pace to 84

Game No. 22 of 162 in the Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight summer-long journey featured one of this year’s biggest surprises and a bounce-back performance from one of Oakland’s young guns… Game No. 22 – Texas Rangers vs. Oakland Athletics • After surrendering eight runs (six earned) in five innings in his first start of the season last week, Trevor Cahill rebounded nicely Wednesday against the Rangers. In five innings, the 22-year-old allowed one unearned run on five hits and three walks in five innings...

Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight 4/7: Rays’ Evan Longoria Goes Deep Again

We’re just three days removed from Opening Day, yet Fantasy Baseball Insiders has already scored four games as part of our journey to watch 162. Wednesday featured the Giants/Astros matchup in Houston… Game No. 4 – San Francisco Giants vs. Houston Astros Edgar Renteria was the story of this game, going 5-for-5 with a walk, one run and two RBI. San Francisco’s shortstop is now 8-for-11 on the season. The 34-year-old hasn’t been fantasy-relevant since 2008 when he hit 12 HRs and stole 11 bases while batting .332 in 494 at-bats...

David Ortiz, Ryan Howard Highlight List of Second Half Studs

The All-Star Break has come and gone, and the dog days of summer are upon us. In some leagues, only six weeks of regular season play remain, meaning now is the time to make your playoff push. Every piece of information is important, and if history is any indicator, these eight batters are likely to dominate the opposition in the second half of the season…

Ticket Liquidator

Interest is peaking among those who seek cheap tickets to MLB games, especially the stadiums that fill up fast and sell out quick like Fenway Park seats, cheap Yankees baseball games and the big one in July; the 2011 MLB All-Star Game in Phoenix. Before that, though, don't forget to check out these seats at the College World Series 2011. As we head into spring, there are other sports hitting their high notes, including cheap games at the NBA finals, action in the octagon at a MMA Fight Night and other fight tickets including the 2011 boxing schedule.
