2011 Fantasy Baseball Projections: Colorado Rockies’ Ubaldo Jimenez Throws Shutout; Back to Old Form?

Colorado Rockies’ pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez is not the same flame-thrower he was last year, and everyone knows it. After 10 starts in 2010, Jimenez was 9-1 with a historically minuscule 0.88 ERA and 61/24 K/BB ratio in 71.1 innings. This season, Jimenez is 1-5 through 10 starts with an embarrassing 4.98 ERA and 52/30 K/BB ratio in 59.2 innings. So what’s been the difference?

Both approaches work, but I have employed a much different scheme in recent seasons: Ideally, you own just one or two reliable starters. They must maintain a consistently low ERA (preferably no higher than 3.50—3.75) and WHIP (Carl Pavano was a great example last year). Strikeouts aren't important...

2011 Fantasy Baseball Advanced Statistics: How MoneyStats Can Help You Win Your League

As a fantasy baseball writer, I evaluate countless advanced statistics every day. Most of the time, I get my information from FanGraphs. However, I recently found another useful site in MoneyStats. They also track leads/deficits when pitchers exit a game, and no decision totals. Perhaps most valuable is their original MoneyStats Value player rating system. Here is a quick taste of the unique stats MoneyStats has to offer...

Ticket Liquidator

Interest is peaking among those who seek cheap tickets to MLB games, especially the stadiums that fill up fast and sell out quick like Fenway Park seats, cheap Yankees baseball games and the big one in July; the 2011 MLB All-Star Game in Phoenix. Before that, though, don't forget to check out these seats at the College World Series 2011. As we head into spring, there are other sports hitting their high notes, including cheap games at the NBA finals, action in the octagon at a MMA Fight Night and other fight tickets including the 2011 boxing schedule.
